2. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Know the most important pests infesting vineyards, fruit and horticultural crops.
2. Know their life cycles, biology and ecology, their natural enemies, and conditions conductive for their population increase resulting in serious infestations of crops.
3. Identify the symptoms and know the damages they cause and their economic impact to crop plants.
4. Know the strategies (chemical, biological, integrated) implemented for their effective management.

General Competences

• Acquire significant theoretical and technical background concerning the field of crop protection against pests infecting vineyards, fruit crops and also field and greenhouse horticultural crops in Agriculture Science.
• Creatively utilize scientific knowledge and modern technology for the effective protection of vineyards, fruit crops and also field and greenhouse horticultural crops against pest infestations.
• Develop necessary background knowledge to be able to attend postgraduate studies.
• Be acquainted with the proper application of the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during their under graduate studies.

1. Pests of vineyards
2. Pests of pome trees
3. Pests of stone fruits
4. Pests of olive trees
5. Pests of citrus trees
6. Pests of nut trees
7. Phytophagοus mites infecting vineyards, fruit crops and greenhouse crops
8. Pests of solanaceous crops
9. Pests of cucurbit crops
10. Pests of crucifers
11. Pests of umbelliferous crops and lettuce
12. Biological and Integrated Pest Management in greenhouse crops

STUDENT PERFORMANCE EVALUATION • For the theoretical part of the course:
Final written or oral examination (60%) in the middle and at the end of the semester (in the middle of semester the written exam is optional)
The written final examination of the theory includes:
a) Multiple choice questionnaires
b) Short-answer questions
c) Comparative evaluation of theory.

• For the laboratory practice:
Written or oral examination at the end of the semester (40%). The laboratory test includes:
a) Multiple choice questionnaires
b) Short-answer questions
c) Problem solving
