Learning Outcomes

The course aims to:
• present the basic concepts related to decision making process in investments and to assess alternative investment schemes.
• present risk analysis and describe uncertainty factors
• Present project appraisal techniques.

Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to:
• Understand key concepts related to decision-making process concerning investments in agricultural sector.
• Assess alternative investment schemes
• Distinguish factors of risk and uncertainty
• Estimate the financial flows in a business and analyze the flows
of funds
• Apply quantitative assessment methods.

3. SYLLABUS

• The financial function and environment of the business. Its Eternal Value Money.
• Capital return estimation and analysis.
• Investments in fixed assets in conditions of certainty. Investments in fixed assets in conditions of uncertainty.
• Evaluation of investments in periods of rising prices.
• Cost-benefit analysis.
• The financing framework of the business activities.
• Forecasting the financing needs of the business and analyzing the flow of funds.
• Breakeven analysis (operating and cash leverage).
• Cost of capital.
